A Cartoon in Watercolor Abstract
This piece drastically changed Maya’s style of painting. It was done as an assignment that was meant to help the students realize what watercolor can do as a medium in abstract. This piece inspired Maya, and she soon began to use watercolor more fluidly, and incorporate abstract watercolor “splatters” into her pieces. These “splatters” are seen in a great portion of Maya’s works after this piece (including Tiger #1, Hairy Monkey, Blindfold, and Butterfly Girl). This painting speaks to Maya’s fun personality and her interest in fantasy books, movies and art. (circa 2015)
